Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustment also known as spinal manipulation, is a procedure in which trained specialists (chiropractors) use their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. The goal of this procedure, is to improve spinal motion and improve your body's physical function.

Spinal joints that aren’t moving right can irritate nerves. Chiropractic adjustments add motion to these nonmoving joints, reducing nervous system disruption.

What is Manual Therapy Techniques / Massage Therapy and How does it work?

Manual therapy is a natural medicine option. When we utilize manual therapy treatment techniques during treatment, we will use our hands to perform specialized techniques that can help heal any injuries a patient may be suffering from.

By applying pressure to certain muscle tissue and manipulating the joints, we can help decrease any pain that is due to muscle spasms, muscle tension and joint dysfunctions. While the manual therapy process is not painful, patients will often experience some soreness after the procedure.

When a patient is limited in their ability to move and/or has a limited range of motion this can lead to their experiencing a lot of discomforts as well as various levels of pain. Manual therapy works when a chiropractor or massage therapist, uses his/her hands to apply special techniques to the muscles and joints that can help to restore their mobility. This therapy is effective in helping to treat chronic back problems such as musculoskeletal conditions.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) uses electrical impulse to create contractions in the muscle in the affected area causing increased blood circulation.  EMS reproduces the effect for exercise and can prevent muscle atrophy after a prolonged injury where movement was inhibited.

Hot and Cold Therapy

It is especially helpful to reduce swelling and control pain after any injury.  Applying Ice is most effective when it is applied early and often for the first 72 hours of any injury. Applying heat will increases circulation, relaxes the muscle and raises skin temperature.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic Ultrasound stimulates tissues below the skin’s surface using sound waves.  It is a high frequency massage that can go as deep as five inches below the surface of the skin.  This high-frequency sound effects very small molecules and cells in your body, causing them to move.  Studies show that ultrasound helps in both rheumatoid conditions as well as osteoarthritis.  Ultrasound causes an increase in tissue relaxation to heal muscle, less scar tissue, improvement in pain and range of motion.  Therapeutic Ultrasound will increase local blood flow to reduce swelling, chronic inflammation and promote bone healing.

Low Level Laser Therapy also called Cold Laser

Lower Level Laser therapy, also known as cold laser therapy and laser bio stimulation.  It is a medical treatment that uses low –level laser to stimulate cellular function.  It uses red and near-infrared light.  The intensity of Lower Level Laser is not high like a surgical laser, and there is no heating effect.  The effects are photomechanical (like Photosynthesis in plants).  Photosynthesis is the process whereby plants use sunlight to produce energy.  Energy is then changed through cellular respiration to ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) which is fuel for all living things.

Laser therapy has shown to reduce swelling, decrease pain, stiffness and help in your cells to reproduce faster.  The faster your cells reproduce the faster you are able to heal.  It also increases blood flow to the injured areas. Low Level Laser is not only used by chiropractors but also known to be used in treating conditions like parkinson, fibromyalgia, heart muscle regeneration and even in weight loss.

Therapeutic Exercises

Therapeutic exercises improve the joint mechanics and returns your spine to normal motion. It helps improve body function by restoring range of motion, strength, and endurance and assist to prevent new occurrences, relapse or further progression of a condition. It will help improve body function, health and quality of life.

We teach our patients special exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of their own home and can improve the effectiveness of their spinal correction by as much as 30-40%.
